Alexander Henry

You’d be hard-pressed to visit Kingston without discovering why it’s been voted one of the top places in Canada both to visit and to live. Filled with parks, trails, shops, restaurants and a fabulous freshwater harbor, it has no shortage of things to do. It also boasts a strong green initiative program, being the first city in Canada to “adopt a protocol for sustainable energy procurement.” Having only spent a few hours there, I can’t wait to get back to enjoy more of its splendor.

The Alexander Henry is a former icebreaker and buoy tender for the Canadian Coast Guard. She is currently retired at the Marine Museum of the Great Lakes, and also acts as a B&B during the summer months. Commissioned in 1959, she spent nearly thirty years in service before the Samuel Risley put her into retirement.

Thanks for stopping by today, and I hope you enjoyed the Kingston images this week. Please feel free to leave a comment below; I love to hear your thoughts!
